Bay Area Video Coalition, or BAVC (pronounced “bay-vac”), is a nonprofit media arts center that was founded in 1976 by a coalition of media makers and activists who wanted to find alternative, civic-minded applications for a new technology - PortaPak video. While the technology has continued to evolve, BAVC’s mission to bring increased cultural and economic participation to underserved communities through media, and our belief that telling compelling stories is powerful for both media maker and audience, remains. FUSE

Collaborating once again with the state of California’s ETP program, BAVC brings the community a new training program called FUSE. FUSE offers advanced technology training to unemployed people who have beginning-to-intermediate skills. The program has been developed to address a critical shortage of qualified job applicants in the Bay Area who possess advanced media technology skills. The training has been directly influenced by our industry partners in the digital media entertainment field, interactive advertising, internet publishing and other companies currently bursting at the seams.
