Train the Teacher (T3): Creating a Digital Classroom Community
T3 workshops provide training and support for Bay Area teachers using a variety of Adobe products in the context of a digitally-enabled classroom. Both public and private school teachers are eligible for this free training.
About the Train the Teacher
Train the Teacher (T3): Creating a Digital Classroom Community is a unique teacher training program to enable K-12 teachers to incorporate the use of digital applications into the classroom. The T3 program offers free instruction> to K-12 teachers in a series of hands-on workshops that will build expertise in selected Adobe software platforms, and build core competencies integrating the use of these digital applications across a range of curricular activities.
The BAVC T3 Program offers training in Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, InDesign, Premiere, Acrobat, and Flash. Classes will be offered evenings and weekends to accommodate teacher schedules. All teachers must fill out an application, and supply the necessary support documents prior to training. The T3 Program offers three types of training: Tools, Classroom Projects, and a Summer Institute.
T3-Tools
T3 tools courses give teachers practical instruction in the nuts and bolts of different digital applications. The classes are held in a computer lab and are offered as single, six-hour classes for a specific application. For many of the applications, there are classes at multiple levels to accommodate from beginner through advanced participants.
T3 -Classroom Projects
T3-Classroom project courses are designed for teachers interested in pursuing a specific curriculum project incorporating various combinations of digital applications. The T3-CLASSROOM PROJECT training sessions focus on specific projects teachers can develop and implement with students at a variety of grade levels, and will typically be offered as 2 or 3 six-hour sessions.
T3-Summer Institute
The T3 program will offer Summer Institutes hosted at BAVC or Sand Francisco State University that will engage participants in a two-week exploration of classroom projects incorporating a full range of digital applications. Institutes will be themed around print, video, and web projects. Dates TBA
T3- Ongoing Support Through Fellow Program
To support teachers involved in the Digital Classroom Community workshops, there will be an online resource center developed by the four organizations hosting T3 programs in the region. Program administrators will select a team of T3 Fellows, and the Resource Center will provide examples of project work from T3 Fellow classrooms, as well as online tools to encourage collaboration among all program participants. Teachers chosen as T3 Fellows will receive software and funds to support their ongoing work. With three levels of training, support from the T3 Resource Center, and the growing cadre of T3 Fellows, teachers will find the practical instruction and encouragement they need to be successful in incorporating these tools into their curriculum.
