Adira-Danique Philyaw is the Preservation Fellow at BAVC Media. She works with the Preservation Team to help perform AV collection assessment & digitization services for under-resourced community & national audiovisual organizations. She also assists community members in using the SF COMMONS Playback Memory Lab to digitize & preserve their stories.

Adira-Danique joined BAVC as a Preservation Fellow in August 2024, following an AMIA Pathways Fellowship with the University of South Carolina’s MIRC Team where she helped preserve AV records in the Quest for Civil Rights Oral History project. She has a Master’s of Science in Information from Florida State University (FSU) and is also working on a Master of Social Work from FSU.

She was a 2023 AMIA Pathways Fellow and an ARL Kaleidoscope Fellow from 2021-2023.

When not at work, Adira-Danique enjoys spending time reading, traveling, and watching cheesy rom coms.
