Kick off the New Year of new career possibilities by joining our Tech Talk Tuesdays, our monthly speaker series, where insiders from tech and other industries share the tips and learning experiences they've gathered while job-hunting and networking. You'll leave with new perspectives and new tools to help you on your own career path.

Come mingle with fellow TechSF participants and future applicants, enjoy refreshments, and learn new approaches to navigating the field.

A Q&A session with BAVC’s Workforce Development Lead, Annie Tahtinen, we’ll hear from Gary Lam, a Software Engineer at Twitter and Nathan Oakes, Cloud Manager at Uber, about their experiences building a career as engineers and what a day looks like in their respective roles. We’ll talk about skills they look for when recruiting for new members.

More about Gary: Gary Lam is the technical lead of the Notifications timeline team at Twitter. He and his team are responsible for Twitter's notifications platform and notifications timeline. Prior to working on Notifications he was the technical lead for Twitter's Machine Learning Platform and helped build out Twitter's underlying machine learning infrastructure. 

More about Nathan: Nathan is an IT professional with over 20 years of hands-on and management experience. A Cloud expert dedicated to the DevOps cause, automation, continuous integration and zero down time, Nathan has experience in AWS, Systems and Network Administration / Engineering and Operations on almost all platforms including Microsoft, Linux, Unix/HPUX, Solaris, Novell and more. He also brings a wealth of networking experience including Cisco, Juniper, F5 and more. DevOps evangelist - excellent at driving process and improvement. Nathan has worked at a diverse array of companies such as Boeing, Adobe, CapGemini, Microsoft, Expedia, NBC Universal, Activision/Blizzard, Zoove and more, as well as startups and consulting firms.
