The role

We are looking for a Senior Copywriter to join our Marketing team. Working with art directors and designers, you’ll be responsible for brainstorming creative concepts for digital, social, and traditional advertising campaigns, as well as writing copy for our website. We’re looking for a strong communicator who can express ideas clearly—not just on the page (or screen)—but also in presentations and brainstorm sessions. You’ll be instrumental in both improving existing copy and the development of the SoFi brand voice moving forward.


What you’ll do:

Develop/articulate and maintain SoFi brand voice guidelines and copy style-guides to ensure consistency across all touch-points
Collaborate with art directors and designers to ensure the big ideas behind the brand are clear in both visuals and copy
Own and edit site copy for, and in response to, user testing
Collaborate with the marketing team across a variety of channels—email and subject line testing, Facebook and Instagram ads, display ads, social campaigns, branded events, contests, print collateral, and targeted content
Develop concepts and copy for broadcast, print, and outdoor campaigns
Work collaboratively with the product team to ensure the brand voice is maintained across the application
Identify gaps in our existing messaging and suggest ways to strengthen our brand voice


What you’ll need:

Ability to adjust brand voice and tone based on audience
Experience writing product content and copy-editing for mobile/web products
Comfortable creating and iterating on copy that will be used in A/B product testing or performance based marketing tests
Experience creating content for social campaigns across all major social platforms
Great storytelling ability, an eye for detail, and perfect grammar
Experience working with agile teams, including quick adaptation and iteration
Experience collaborating with external creative agencies and freelancers
Expert multi-tasking and time management
Sense of urgency—you want to go, move, make things happen, and shake things up
Ability to understand technical content and quickly learn new material
Knowledge of financial services/personal finance a plus
Personal characteristics
Strong communicator
A minimum of five years working as a copywriter at an ad agency, in-house creative department, or freelancing for major brands
Must have an incredibly strong, well-rounded portfolio website that includes campaigns across all media, including broadcast
Bachelor’s degree, preferably with an English/Journalism/Communications focus
English proficiency and excellent grammatical, writing, and editorial skills
Ad/portfolio school education preferred
