Do you love helping people change their lives? Do you have industry knowledge of video and audio production, post-production and digital marketing? Are you familiar with workforce development, especially in the San Francisco Bay Area? And are you able to digest information and organize it into neat piles that can be reported to government agencies?

If so, consider yourself a candidate for BAVC’s TechSF Program Manager position! This is a full-time, 2-year, grant-funded position with a possibility of extending for two additional years.

BAVC (Bay Area Video Coalition), a 45-year old nonprofit media arts center, has over 20 years of workforce development experience and has partnered with the City and County of San Francisco for over a decade to provide advanced technical training and job placement assistance to underserved populations.

If chosen, you will be responsible for shepherding approximately 53 participants per year through TechSF, an initiative of San Francisco’s Office of Economic and Workforce Development, designed to provide education, training and employment assistance to locals who are interested in landing a job within San Francisco’s tech sector. You will oversee all aspects of the program as it pertains to BAVC, including outreach, vetting candidates, helping onboard them into one of three tracks: Digital Marketing, Video Production and Video Post-production, attending all required Office of Economic & Workforce Development (OEWD) TechSF meetings, inputting data into OEWD’s online database system and in BAVC’s Salesforce system, running reports and staying current on all participants’ progress. 

The TechSF Program Manager will coordinate all program activities, such as group job search workshops, guest speakers, career fairs, and oversee participants’ completion of advanced technical training through job placement and retention.

SALARY RANGE

$ 62,000 to $68,000 commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities 

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY

You’ll wear many hats in this role but some hats will only be worn monthly or quarterly. Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll be doing for the first 3 months:

  • 50% planning, setting up systems, coordinating with JVS to find participants
  • 35% talking with prospective applicants about the program and getting them enrolled
  • 15% reporting and entering data 

Thereafter, we anticipate that your activities will break down as follows:

  • 35% interfacing with participants
  • 25% conducting placement activities (guest speakers, career fairs, group counseling)
  • 15% outreach for participants
  • 15% reporting and entering data
  • 10% attending meetings
Qualifications 
  • Four-year college degree or relevant professional experience in education, workforce development, digital media or technology

  • Possess a broad understanding of the Bay Area digital media and IT sphere, especially as it pertains to video, audio, motion graphics and digital marketing, with a keen interest in emerging technology

  • Be extremely detail- and goal-oriented, be an excellent listener and have an abundance of patience when explaining processes and services repeatedly

  • Excellent communication skills and a desire to offer relevant solutions and services to people with diverse backgrounds and varying needs

  • Adept at problem solving and taking initiative

  • Command of Microsoft Excel, Word and Google Docs

  • Experience with Salesforce database administration highly desired
