About Sustainable Silicon Valley (SSV):
Sustainable Silicon Valley’s mission is to create a resilient region under the framework of Net Positive Bay Area to address the highest priorities of the day- Water, Energy and Carbon.

SSV fosters cross-sector collaboration and designs projects that will serve as models in the Bay Area and beyond. With the historic drought and an uncertain water and energy future, SSV is currently focused on the Intelligent Water Reuse Initiative and Net Positive Communities—East Palo Alto. Pilot projects that are part of these initiatives facilitate collaboration among SSV partners, demonstrate technology, promote education, and advance legislation that will enable our partners to become recognized leaders in water and energy resiliency.

SSV partners include leading tech companies (Facebook, Google, Microsoft, and many more), Bay Area cities, innovative solution providers, academic and research institutions, and community organizations. Sustainable Silicon Valley is a nonprofit organization located in Santa Clara founded in 2000.

Job Title: WordPress Developer
Type: Non-Compensated Volunteer Position (Part-time Telecommuting is OK)
Hours: 15-20 hours/week, 6+months period
Reports to: Web Team Director

About the position:
This is an outstanding opportunity for a qualified person to build a brand new site from the ground up. You will work closely with the Marketing Team for content and have a close working relationship with the Executive Director.

Requirements:

● Experience setting up and maintaining Wordpress sites
● Good understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and jQuery
● Familiarity with Wordpress dashboard and admin functions
● Experience selecting and customizing Wordpress themes
● Experience in selecting and customizing plugins and outside services, including subscription, ticketing, and donations
● Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing with good time management skills.
● Good team player
● Providing documentation and support to other volunteers who will help create and maintain a website.

Helpful but not necessary:
● PhP and MySQL programming experience
● Experience creating custom themes from scratch
