Paul Abueg-Igaz is a Program Manager for BAVC Media’s Youth and Emerging Media Makers programs. He oversees classes for teens and young adults, working with instructors to develop curriculum and ensure our participants develop skills relevant to today’s media landscape. He also develops partnerships with schools, educators, and other agencies.
Paul joined BAVC Media in 2022. After earning a BA from Emerson College in 2008, he launched a video production CTE pathway at Encinal High in Alameda, CA. He earned a Teaching Credential in English from CSU: East Bay and a MA in Education from SFSU. During eight years as a classroom teacher, he taught video production, animation, multimedia art, English, and drama. In addition to his education work, he is a filmmaker and musician.
He has written curriculum for the California Film Institute and SFMOMA. His short films have screened at Another Hole in the Head, LA Indie Horror Fest, Gila Valley Film Festival and the Portland Comedy Film Festival.
He is currently directing “Searchin’ for My Soul,” a feature-length documentary on Dakila, a pioneering Filipino-American rock band from the 1970’s Mission District music scene.
