Beyond the Blues- Ending the Prison Industrial Complex led by composer, bassist, and bandleader, Marcus Shelby, the series explores the prison industrial complex, restorative justice, prison abolition, the death penalty, the school-to-prison pipeline, mass incarceration, and more. The evenings include special guests, readings, live and recorded music, poetry, and video. These discussions are open to anyone interested in ending the prison industrial complex and how music and art can be used as a powerful vehicle in that process.

Borderlands-On Mothers Day 2015, Naima Shalhoub and her band went into the Women's County Jail in San Francisco to perform a concert celebrating all the Mothers who are incarcerated and the enduring strength of sisterhood.  This is a behind-the-scenes concert film featuring highlights from the 1 hour performance.

SOMArts presents the News  
This month hosted by the Queer Cultural Center – The News is a monthly offering of performance featuring new queer work. On the first Tuesday of each month The News casts a spotlight on performance pieces, experiments, debut works, and works in progress by pre-selected solo artists, groups, or troupes. Acts featured Jezebel Delilah X from Peacock Rebellion’s Brouhaha and the Congregation of Liberation presents Black Don’t Crack: Black Don’t Crack is a multi-media musical that will affirm the healing and liberation that happens when queer black people connect through art, love and the intentional development of community.

Sunset Youth Services- Upstar Records is a youth-run record label and digital arts
program run by Sunset Youth Services that uses the power of music, media production, employment, and a tight web of positive community-based relationships to keep systems-involved youth off the streets, out of jail, and engaged in leadership roles. Where Art Lives is short documentary about an art program that teaches students about how art relates to themselves and the community around them. The short focuses specifically on the art of graffiti.
