JOB SUMMARY

BAVC Media is seeking to hire an Employer Engagement Specialist to help us carry out our COYA grant, for an initial term of 10 months beginning October 1, 2024 and ending August 1, 2025. This is a nonexempt position at $28.67-$32.97 per hour DOE. This position may be structured as part-time or full-time, with hours ranging from 28-35/week, and the term may be extended depending on the availability of funding.

This could be a terrific opportunity for a professional with experience in HR / People and Culture working at a medium to large company.

ABOUT BAVC MEDIA

BAVC Media inspires social change by empowering media makers to develop and share diverse stories through art, education and technology. We do this through a range of artistic and career development programs.

In 2024, California’s Division of Apprenticeship Standards (DAS) awarded BAVC Media funding for a California Opportunity Youth Apprenticeship (COYA) grant to develop and test innovative practices to increase the participation of opportunity youth in pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship programs, and to demonstrate the impact of apprenticeship on employment and earnings outcomes for young people who experience barriers to employment, also referred to as “opportunity youth”.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Development

  • Develop relationships with companies for potential field placement opportunities who employ early career media creatives.
  • Assist in direct job placement of Digital Marketing and Media Producer Apprenticeship graduates by analyzing their strengths and matching them with appropriate positions
    • Offer an assortment of ways to partner with BAVC Media, including but not limited to:
    • Hire an intern/pre-apprentice/apprentice
    • Host an industry open house for networking opportunities
    • Purchase training packages for their key staff
    • Host a mock interview panel
    • Review BAVC Media curriculum
    • Provide a tour of their office
    • Donate production gear, software, and or hardware
  • Develop new leads for corporate training opportunities and convert them to paying clients
    Present BAVC Media’s Digital Marketing and Media Producer Apprenticeship program, and BAVC Media’s training and workforce development programs overall, to the corporate and media business community at networking events

Additional Duties

  • Leverage industry relationships in order to acquire production gear, software and hardware donations, collaboration with BAVC Media’s Associate Director, Strategic Partnerships
  • Support other workforce development related activities at BAVC Media, as needed, including industry events and educational events.
  • Recruit employers for partnerships (e.g. career panels or “one off” classes) benefiting BAVC Media creative workforce development programs
  • Present custom training opportunities to Bay Area companies using existing BAVC Media pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship models, and other relevant examples from the field.
  • Identify internship, pre-apprenticeship, and registered apprenticeship leads for BAVC Media’s participants and graduates by developing collaborative relationships with employer partners

COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE

This is a temporary position for a 10 month term and may be extended depending on availability of funding. This can be structured as full-time or part-time ranging from 28-35 hours/week. This is a hybrid role with the incumbent required to work in office or attend in-person meetings for part of the week as mutually agreed upon with the supervisor. Full-time employees working at least 30 hours/week are eligible for BAVC benefits including medical, dental, vision, and paid sick time. Although Part-time employees are not eligible for BAVC health benefits, they are eligible for paid sick time. We also offer free registration in BAVC classes and workshops whenever schedule and availability permits.

Range: $28.67-$32.97/hour DOE

  • Occasional evenings and weekends may be required for meetings or performing duties for project-related events.
