Volunteer Audio/Video Editor Needed — Age-Friendly Oral History & Photography Project
Felton Institute — San Francisco’s oldest non-sectarian nonprofit — is launching an intergenerational Oral History Project in the Visitacion Valley/Sunnydale neighborhood (94134). We’re looking for a volunteer audio/video editor to help bring neighbors’ stories to life. Ideally, they live or work in the 94134 zip code, too.
The Vision
We’re interviewing longtime residents about their experience living in Visitacion Valley/Sunnydale. Each person’s portrait will be displayed at 8 feet tall on the new Mercy Housing buildings currently under construction, paired with a QR code. Anyone walking by can scan the code and hear that person tell their story in their own voice.
The Role
Take raw video from each interview and extract the audio
Edit the audio down to 2 minutes or less, capturing the heart of the person’s story
The finished audio will be linked to their portrait via the QR code
Down the road, we also plan to edit the full video into a longer 2–15 minute Oral History piece — but the priority right now is the 2-minute audio cut for each subject.
Time Commitment
We estimate 1–8 interviews will be ready for editing between October and November 2026. We will start in early October, and view the photographs with QR code by mid-December ’26.
