Xiarel GC is a Youth Media Instructor at BAVC Media. They are an alumnus of the Bridges Live Fellowship (2023) and the Youth Media Making Summer Intensive (2020). Their focus is youth development, and they are responsible for teaching all aspects of live video production in Bay Area-based youth programs.
While discovering an attraction to video editing and videography, Xiarel joined BAVC Media as a student in 2020. They later became a Producer, then a lead instructor for the Factory Live Video Production class (2022) and the Climate Warriors summer intensive (2023). Alongside their role as an instructor, Xiarel has worked on several Bay Area film projects and graduated from the Bridges Live Fellowship (2023).
They have produced several short films and videos, including Subject Zero-One (2020), which screened at the San Diego Latino Film Festival and won an experimental film award at the SF Youth Film Uprising Festival. As part of Odd Folk Films, they worked as editor for Are You Still There? (2023), a narrative short that premiered at the Madrone Motion Picture Film Festival.
When not in class or editing, Xiarel loves to appreciate a good sci-fi audiobook on a rainy day, listen to EDM or Salsa, and play video games and board games with friends.
