Bridges Live!

Bridges Live! was a four-week summer intensive program designed to equip transitional-age youth (18-24 yrs old) with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in live event videography.

Over the course of four weeks, fellows received comprehensive training in a variety of skills related to filming live events, both solo and as part of a team. Throughout the intensive, fellows acquired strategies to successfully prepare for, challenge, and surmount the barriers to entering and staying in the media industry.

The program covered everything from camera operation and shot composition to pre-production and client communication. Fellows also received training in editing workflows, including organization, assembly, rough cut, fine cut, color correction, and audio mixing, using non-linear editing software (NLE), and multicam editing techniques. By the end of the program, fellows had a solid foundation in professional skills, career readiness, and video production techniques that enabled them to succeed in event videography.

In addition to technical skills, Bridges Live! emphasized the development of soft skills, such as teamwork, communication, and professionalism. Fellows worked collaboratively on a range of projects, including event highlight reels, promotional videos, and client work. They also had opportunities to receive constructive feedback from instructors and build a professional portfolio that showcased their skills and accomplishments.

Bridges Live! was an immersive, hands-on program that provided transitional-age youth with the tools and support they need to enter and succeed in the media industry. It was an ideal opportunity for recent high school graduates, community college students, full-time workers, and recent four-year college graduates who lacked the necessary skills and experience to secure employment.
