California Opportunity Youth Apprenticeship (COYA) Grant

Helping media makers launch their career

With support from the State of California and many community partners, we’re investing in the creation of new Registered Pre-apprenticeships and Apprenticeships to help media-makers launch their careers.

We’re currently in the second round of our Assistant Editor Fellowship, a collaborative Pre-apprenticeship program with PG&E. You can read more about the Fellowship here.

BAVC Media is actively developing a new Digital Marketing and Media Production Registered Apprenticeship for young people, supported by the California Opportunity Youth Apprenticeship (COYA) Grant. This is a new funding source to develop and test innovative practices to increase the participation of opportunity youth in Registered Pre-apprenticeship and Apprenticeship programs, and to demonstrate the impact of apprenticeship on employment and earnings outcomes for opportunity youth. BAVC is excited to collaborate with many partners on this project, including film and media companies, nonprofit social service organizations, the Alliance for Media Arts and Culture, and community colleges.
