Daniel Díaz

As Deputy Director of BAVC Media, Daniel Díaz leads the organization’s Marketing team, responsible for the organization’s brand, audience development, communications, and creative direction. He also oversees BAVC Media’s Artist Development and Community Media departments, as well as supporting BAVC Preservation.

Daniel has worked across marketing, distribution, and production in Europe, South America and the US. He joined BAVC Media in 2022 as Director of Marketing after two years at the California Film Institute. He has managed marketing and digital distribution campaigns for films including Spring Breakers, 12 Years a Slave, Man of Steel and The Lobster, as well as projects for brands such as Absolut Vodka, Chivas Regal, and UNICEF, among others. He has run workshops and spoken on panels on the subject of film marketing, distribution, and crowdfunding at Film London, Raindance Film Festival, Erich Pommer Institut (Berlin), Festival of Slovenian Film (Portorož), Viña del Mar Film Festival (Chile), Film Festival Alliance FilmEx Summit (USA), and more.

He is currently in production on Roll Fog, a feature documentary about the oldest community-owned fútbol team in the US, San Francisco City FC. Past filmmaking credits include director-producer of documentary short films Junior tu papá (2024 True/False Film Fest) and ÉLEFAN (2023 Philadelphia Latino Film Festival); producer on award-winning Chilean feature film Camaleón (2016 BFI London Film Festival: Sutherland Award nominee) by Jorge Riquelme Serrano; and co-producer on Rich Felgate’s award-winning climate activism documentary Finite: The Climate of Change (2023 FIPADOC: Impact Award winner).

Daniel is the founder of Latin American documentary platform CiNEOLA and creator of Public Access FC, a public access show about truth + fútbol. He is also a fellow of the National Association of Latino Arts & Cultures (NALAC) Leadership Institute and a founding member of the Bay Area Media Maker Summit (BAMMS).
