Faye Terry has worked as Youth Programs Coordinator at BAVC Media since January 2019, helping lead creative media programs for young people across the Bay Area. Her work is grounded in the belief that young people are already artists long before anyone hands them a camera. The important part is building spaces where they feel safe enough to experiment, connect, take risks, and tell the truth about what they see.
She grew up in Brooklyn, New York and later earned a master’s degree in Community Development and Planning, experiences that continue to shape how she thinks about storytelling, public space, belonging, and collective care.
Alongside her work at BAVC, Faye is also the Director of Wise Forest Preschool, an outdoor preschool in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. Across both worlds – teenagers making films, preschoolers building imaginary worlds from sticks and mud – her work centers around the same thing: helping young people trust their ideas, develop their voices, and feel more deeply connected to themselves and each other.
She loves to write and create across many mediums and is always collecting small strange moments around her – overheard conversations, postcards from another time, memories she wants to hold onto before they disappear. She lives in Oakland, spends as much time outdoors as possible, and drives a tiny truck with flame decals on the side.
