At the age of 12, Juan ran across the U.S./Mexico border with his mom and brother. They were escaping the brutal civil war in El Salvador. Landing in Los Angeles, Juan attended school and eventually made his way to L.A. City College and finally U.C. Berkeley, where he majored in Film Studies. Juan has worked in marketing for over 15 years, focusing in arts and educational nonprofits. In 2002, Juan ran away with the circus, working for the famed Teatro ZinZanni in San Francisco, where he worked as Marketing Director for 10 years. Juan is proud of his Salvadoran immigrant roots and is always looking for ways to contribute positively to his immigrant community. In his free time, Juan enjoys dancing, DJing, Afro-Cuban drumming, film, photography, and gardening.
