Meru Sharma is the Program Manager for Reel Stories at BAVC Media. She supports the YEMM department by overseeing the redesign, launch, and implementation of Reel Stories, a filmmaking program for young women and gender expansive youth. Students, families, instructors, and community partners can connect with Meru around all things Reel Stories.
Meru returned to BAVC Media in 2026, having first encountered the organization in 2023 as a recipient of the TechSF Editors Training Certification. They bring experience in after-school program implementation as an Associate Producer with True StoriesSF, artist support work with various film orgs including an internship with the Sundance Institute’s Documentary Film Programs, and youth media arts education as a Teaching Artist in the Bay Area.
She has an MFA in Social Documentation from UC Santa Cruz and a BA in Peace and Conflict Studies from DePauw University. As a Media Fellow in college and New York Arts Program alum, they worked with documentary production companies Blowback Productions and Mission Critical Productions. Their experience in independent and commercial productions spans a full range of on-set and post-production roles.
Meru loves movies, cooking for friends, taking dance classes, and sightseeing.
