Celebrating the 2024 BAVC MediaMaker Fellows

Published On: December 11, 2024 |

What a year it’s been for the 2024 BAVC MediaMaker Fellowship!

On Wednesday, December 4 friends, collaborators, and supporters gathered at the David Brower Center in Berkeley and virtually watched as the 2024 Fellows presented their films and celebrated the culmination of 9 fantastic months in community as a cohort. Those in attendance were impressed not only with the outstanding quality of the films presented but with how much the filmmakers clearly cared for and respected each other.

We’re so grateful to our sponsors that made the event possible:

A special shout out as well to our pitch coach Maria Santos. Maria’s thoughtful guidance, insights, and dedication to supporting our  filmmakers elevated this pitch to new heights. We’re so grateful for you, Maria!

It wasn’t all about the Pitch + Party at the final conveying of the 2024  Fellowship. We started with a trip to the North Bay to tour Skywalker Sound and hear from their masterful audio artists who are dedicated to working with independent filmmakers alongside Hollywood projects. We also met with Rachel Antell and Jennifer Petrucelli of Sub BAsement Archival and the Archival Producers Alliance to get an introduction to the APA’s guidelines for generative AI in documentary film.
