Bridges Fellowship

BAVC's Bridges Fellowship is a media production and career readiness training program for transitional aged young people in the Bay Area

Bridges Fellowship

Dive deep into the filmmaking field with technical training, career counseling, an internship stipend, and internship placement support. Make connections between media-making and social justice while learning from artists and entrepreneurs.

Are you interested in learning about video production as a profession? The Bridges Fellowship is designed to help a diverse cohort of transitional-age youth (18-24 years old) learn strategies to successfully prepare for, challenge, and ultimately surmount the barriers to entering and staying in the media industry. Bridges Fellows will receive an immersive 12-week training in workplace literacy, career readiness, and communication skills while gaining experience in video pre-production, production, and post-production.

Fellows will:

  • Participate in a series of classes, workshops, and industry field trips over 3 months
  • Build a network of creative peers and strengthen your professional community
  • Gain work experience through a 35-hour client project and receive $500 after completion
  • Present your work and experience at a culminating Symposium
  • Earn an industry recognized Producer/Editor Certificate

The Bridges Fellowship consists of 12 weeks of instruction. Attendance of at least 90% is required to stay enrolled in the program. Only apply to Bridges if you can commit to the schedule as outlined:

  • Fall 2019 Semester begins on September 17, 2019
  • Classes are from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
  • Complete a client project by the end of the semester to present at the Bridges Symposium
